What Are You?? Oh, Still A Dragon...
Hello again friends, we are approaching the 20 week mark in this part of the world, and I'm getting very anxious to find out the sex of our baby dragon. The dragon has different plans however.
So there are a LOT of old wives tales out there that are supposed to tell you the sex of your baby; everything from what you crave to peeing on Draino (I am not kidding, Google it!). So of course, me being impatient and all, I figure I would try some of these things out, but NOT the Draino...that's gross!
1. How are you carrying? They say High is for a girl, and Low you're having a boy...well, the little dragon is camped out somewhere in the middle. 40% of people say I'm carrying high, 40% say low, and 20% say they can't tell I'm carrying at all yet! NEXT!
2. What are you craving? They say Sweets for a Girl and Sour & Salty means a Boy. Well, at the beginning, the dragon only liked Sour & Salty, but now I'm more into Sweet stuff, and Salty things...OH WELL, NEXT!!
3. Is your hubby gaining weight? They say if he is it's a girl, if he's not it's a boy. I say this is crap because Brian has horrible eating habits and can put on 5lbs one week and be down 7lbs the next...his weight is no reflection on the baby....NEXT!!!
4. How is your baby's heartbeat? Ah Ha! I thought for sure that the dragon couldn't outsmart the science of the Doppler! High Heart Rate is said to be a girl, lower for a boy. They say anything above 155 is higher and low is around 145. So at my appointment today, my OB is listening to the little dragon's heartbeat and I was proceeding to tell her about my Old Wives tale theory. We hear the Thud Thud Thud and I'm all smiles because I figured I finally outsmarted my dragon! WRONG!! I asked her what the heart rate was and its 150!! Right smack dab in the middle....WELL HELL CHILD!!
So that's where I'm leaving it. We have our 20 week ultrasound next Thursday, and God willing, the dragon will cooperate and let us know if it's a boy or a girl. Knowing this child, it probably have a hand covering the important bits to make us wait longer :)
Until next time.....

Dragons HATE Turkey; They LOVE Starbucks
Why hello again everyone! I hope you are all doing well! Surprisingly I am feeling a LOT better since the last time we spoke, but I've also been SUPER busy!! Toothless and I went on a little adventure to California this past weekend to see Auntie Jamie, Erin, and Nati (which provided a first play date seeing as her Baby B is due in March♥), and Toothless behaved, well....somewhat behaved, lol....so without further ado:
Total Dragon Age: 13 ½ Weeks
Mommy Weight: +2.5
Symptoms: My little dragon is becoming less angry, THANK GOODNESS! As my first trimester comes to a close I am happy to report that I am not pulling an exorcist every time I eat anymore! I think that toothless thought me getting sick was the equivalent of breathing fire, so s/he wanted me to be a REAL mommy dragon. This little dragon DOES NOT LIKE TURKEY SANDWICHES. There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it...eat turkey, get sick....I learned this after lunch and a walk to the Hollywood sign! However, Dragon Baby does love Starbucks Sausage breakfast sandwiches and a Tall White Chocolate Mocha with Caramel :) sometimes its a good dragon :)
Cravings: Still not too many cravings coming from this little one. I will say however I did crave In N Out Burger, Noah's Bagels and the Kettle why I was in Cali, but that is normal for me when I visit! I do for some reason LOVE Fuji and Honeycrisp Apples.....
What I Miss: Turkey Sandwiches :(
What I Like: Baby ANYHING!! Jamie, her mom Peggy, and Nati all got me some really cute baby things (neutral of course b/c we don't know if it's a boy or girl dragon yet!) and let me tell you, EVERYTHING is cuter in miniature! I also love my Mother-in-Law for converting two of my jeans into maternity jeans! And finally, I love this towel set from Pottery Barn Kids:

Well, that's it for now! My next doctors appointment is on Thursday, I'll update you all after that!

Naming Toothless...
As most of you know, I'm a little bit of an over achiever, so of course I've had an idea of what I was going to name my little dragon LONG before it was even a thought in my mind to have one! I've got Brian on board with a name if it's a girl, but he's a little iffy with the boys names.
Let's go over something first, my family has a "Naming Tradition", everyone has a name that starts with "J" (except Matt & Mike, but my mom says she regrets that, but i digress) so I told Brian I would like our dragon baby (at least the first one) to have a 'J' name. Luckily, him being the good Hubby he is, he agreed! Then he proceeded to mock my names for boys one by one, but he says some are growing on him. Why don't you tell me what you think? The names I like are:
Jaxson is by far my favorite, but Hubby thinks it might be to many N sounds in Jaxson Watson...whatever! I have always LOVED the name, so much so that there is a "don't touch the name if you plan on living" order with family and friends! I always like to have kids names be a little different, that's why I prefer Jax to Jack, but either would work. Hubby says that Jax is a Mortal Kombat character, but I don't care! I ♥ it!!
I like Jarrett, but worry that it resembles Jared too much, but maybe that's not so bad! And then we have Jude, I like Jude, but I'm not in love with it...I think it could be a little feminine and I just cant have that! lol.
I know we have a couple more months before we find out what our dragon baby is, so for now Toothless will have to do, but what names do you all like if it's a boy?

Bad Dragon...VERY Bad Dragon
I feel like my first trimester is N-E-V-E-R going to end!! Brian seems to think I'm a big baby, and lets face it, I probably am, but that doesn't matter because I'm PREGNANT!!! Here are some of the oh-so-lovely joys of my pregnancy up til now:
Total Dragon Age: 9 Weeks
Mommy Weight: +1 (but after lunch it could be -2 see below)
Symptoms: My little dragon wants his/her presence to be known. Morning sickness doesn't even begin to cover it, I have ALL DAY sickness. Last week I gave in because a Snickers (my favorite candy of all time) sounded AMAZING to me. Little did I know that my little Toothless does not care for Snickers.....I am well aware now. So I began to think "my little dragon is just trying to watch my figure...I'll eat a salad", boy was I WRONG! Toothless does NOT like salad AT ALL, or grilled chicken....or steak. One of my other favorite foods (shrimp) is also not to Toothless' liking. I learned this after a go around with my Mother and a plate of shrimp linguine from Red Lobster....mommy is NOT a fan of Toothless' eating habits (or lack there of)
Cravings: Well, not so much cravings, but the only foods I can keep down so far are Sour Patch Kids, Lemon Heads, War Heads, Fuji Apples and Spinach Dip with Carrots, Cheese Brats and Red Gatorade. This is Brian's Dragon...I am convinced.
What I Miss: Feeling normal, eating foods that I like, not feeling nauseous, not falling asleep at 9pm, and my 4 Diet Cokes a day.
What I Like: I feel like a bad mom for saying that there isn't much that I like right now except for the fact that I will be done with my first trimester in a couple of weeks! I'm looking forward to finding out the dragon's sex and picking out names, and designing the nursery....but right now, my favorite thing is SLEEP!!
Well, my next doctors appointment is October 26th and we'll have our 10 week tests and another update from mommy and Toothless, until then, here is the first picture of our little Dragon:
See you all soon!

What's In A Name...
Why hello good friends, and welcome to How To Have A Dragon! You might be wondering, "what kind of stuff are you smoking that would make you pick THAT name for your blog?" No, I am not a weird Sci-fi Dungeons and Dragons person, I don't spend hours in my room studying every aspect of Lord of the Rings, but I do have my dear husband to thank for the unique blog name.
You see we found out we were expecting our cute little dragon about 2 weeks ago, and me being me, I instantly went to the "OMG what will it be!" question. So I asked Brian, "honey, what do you think it is, a boy or a girl?" To which he responded (and for those of you who know him, this will NOT be a shock) "It's going to be a DRAGON!" I started laughing, my sister-in-law started making fun of us, I came up with a clever Lindsay Lohan Firecrotch joke, and the rest is history!
We now refer to the baby as "dragon" or "Toothless" (the name of the dragon from How To Train Your Dragon) my Sister-in-Law still makes fun of us, and it's all become a very funny joke. I'm sure it will continue through much of the pregnancy, well at least until we figure out what it is...then we MIGHT refer to it by name!
I've got my first Ultrasound (US) on Wednesday, then I might go public with this blog....until then...
